Chairwoman

As the newly appointed chairwoman of the Orange County Republican Committee, Deanne Marshall brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and dedication to the role. With a background in community service and outreach, Deanne has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to the betterment of Orange County.

Driven by a passion for democracy, Deanne is committed to advancing electoral success through voter engagement, candidate support, and fostering relationships with precinct volunteers, poll workers, and poll watchers.

Vice Chair

My wife of 50 years and I retired to Lake of the Woods from Fairfax Station, Va. in 2017. Predicated on my daughter’s future family employment opportunities, I expect my elementary and middle-school granddaughters may very well become students in the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) system.

I attended the U.S. Naval Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. My post-graduate education includes the University of West Florida for aeronautical systems; the University of Virginia Continuing and Professional Studies with courses in Federal Procurement and Contracting, Contract Administration, Cost and Price Analysis, Principles of Law for Contract Formation, Principles...

I was born and raised in New Jersey where I lived in the country and learned to appreciate and love the incredible world that God has given us. I graduated from Syracuse University with a BS degree in Textiles & Clothing Design.

 

Upon graduation I moved to Boston to enter the Executive Retail Training program at Jordan Marsh. Realizing I may not be suited for retail, I then began my journey to see other parts of the country (and to confirm that there were still real cowboys and Indians in the Midwest!) while living and working in Minnesota, Missouri, Georgia and finally Maryland.

Diana O'Connel
Diana O'Connel

Secretary

Diana grew up in an Air Force family and spent her childhood/adolescence moving around the Country (California, New Mexico, Nebraska, Texas, Florida) and spending a lot of her childhood in England and her teenage years in the Netherlands.

 

Diana graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, a small Baptist school with a degree in History and a minor in Political Science.  She later (after having children) went to University of Richmond Law School in Richmond, Virginia and received her J.D. degree.

 

Diana moved to Orange County immediately after law school to accept the position of Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney from 1993 to 1996.  In 1996 she went into the private practice of law and then joined the law firm of Somerville, Wilkinson and Wheeler.  In 2003 she was elected as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Orange County until her partial retirement in December 2024.
